What's new at Capital Advisors?

It’s been a wild ride these past few months. After a strong January to start the year, major U.S. equity indexes traded lower in February due to the uncertainty surrounding tariffs and have continued to fall this month. According to MarketWatch, year-to-date, the three major U.S. indices are as follows:

  • The S&P 500 decreased 3.98%
  • The Nasdaq fell 8.37%%
  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 2.02%

Rather than give you a bunch of platitudes, I’d like to share the three graphs below showing the performance of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, NASDAQ Composite Index, and the S&P 500 over the past 40+ years.*

History has shown us that markets go through cycles with periods of volatility, often followed by recovery and growth. We use these graphs as a visual to reiterate that investing is for the long term. We know that when the market is down, you may feel uncomfortable, but this is a reminder to stay the course.

And now in other news......

New Logo

Have you seen our new logo? We love our new look and appreciate all the positive feedback we have received. If you haven't visited our website in a while, please take a moment to visit capitaladvisors.us and see our changes.

New Technology

Over the past year, we have added several new offerings to our “tech stack” to help us best serve you, our clients. Many of these tools leverage integrations, allowing us to streamline data collection, money movement, and investment analysis so we can continue to thrive as your trusted financial advisors.

New Texting Platform - Levitate

In addition to the above new technology enhancements, we have also started using Levitate for all our texting needs. Previous platforms were cumbersome and not reliable. Levitate's design allows our advisors to quickly, easily and compliantly communicate with our clients via text, just as it should be.

A couple of things to remember about texting:

Please do not text us your personal and private information (PPI). It is not considered best practice in any form, but SEC regulations prohibit us from accepting PPI via text. Some examples of PPI include your social security number, account number, and/or copies of account statements. If you ever need to send us anything with PPI, we will work with you to share it securely via our new software, PreciseFP. It's very easy to use. We promise!

All business communication must go through the proper channels. Texting means only using our approved phone numbers. Please only use our business text numbers if you want to communicate with us via text.  This isn't because we don't want to hear from you; it's an SEC regulation. Please save our number, (512) 231-0890, to your cell phone to ensure we all stay within regulations.

 Social Media

Did you know that we are on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn? We'd like to invite you to join our online community for financial news, "FinTalk" videos with our advisors. What's FinTalk, you ask? It is the category of all videos that provide financial information in a short video format, usually two minutes or less. It is important to know who you are taking online financial advice from, and with our videos, you know the information is from licensed fiduciaries.

Jen's Corner

In January, I attended Cambridge’s annual women’s conference in lovely Scottsdale, Arizona. Unfortunately, it was cooler there than it was here at home!  I was honored to be chosen to sit on a panel with a few of my very respected peers to discuss the industry as well as business best practices.
